Grant Review Service

Grant funding is an important source of revenue for any nonprofit, but there are limited funds and seemingly unlimited needs.  Grant writing is a specific skill—one that is understandably perplexing to new nonprofit leaders.  Writing a fundable grant proposal can be a challenging process for anyone, but necessary in a competitive environment.  That is why LEAD Group offers a grant review service to (a) any new nonprofit (since 2006) and to (b) any of our current clients.

It is intended to be a tool for your organization to use to receive feedback on a grant proposal before it is submitted to a funder, in order that your proposal might be as professional and polished as possible.  There is a $25.00 processing fee associated with this service.

Grant Review Process

1. Email an electronic copy of your proposal draft to .  Please also include the name of the funder, the specific grant request you are responding to and any other important information.
2. A LEAD staff member will call you within 24 hours of receiving the proposal to schedule a 1-3 hour meeting.  Meetings will be scheduled no sooner than 5 business days after receipt of the proposal.
3. In your meeting with LEAD a staff member will systematically go through the proposal with you, making recommendations regarding both writing and content.  The $25.00 processing fee is due at this time.  LEAD will provide an invoice for your records.  Checks can be made out to LEAD Group MN.
4. If you feel it is necessary to check the revisions you have made, your organization may choose to follow steps 1-3 a second time (this is completely the choice of the client).  For a second review the processing fee is discounted to $15.00.

Due to staffing constraints proposals will be served on a first come, first serve basis.  We will do our best to review as many requests as possible.  Please submit only one proposal per program.  Do NOT submit multiple versions of the same proposal (going to different funders).  It is your responsibility to adapt a reviewed proposal to fit multiple funders' needs.

Grant Review Guidelines

In exchange for offering this service we ask that you kindly adhere to the following guidelines:

• By engaging in the grant review process you agree to notify LEAD Group upon (1) submission of the grant and (2) the outcome of your proposal (positive or negative).
• If a grant is funded, you agree to mention LEAD Group in your report as a service provider to your organization.
• You must provide an electronic copy of the grant proposals.  Hard copies only will not be accepted.
• You are responsible for your own grant submission deadlines.  LEAD Group will not rush a review because of an upcoming deadline, the process will take 5-7 business days.
