Programs: Organizational Development (OD) Services
With an overarching goal of building the capacity and sustainability of African‑led non‑profits, LEAD Group provides 3 different types of Organizational Development (OD) Services including:
- Organizational Workshops are offered once or twice a month covering topics such as programming, board development, evaluation, strategic planning and more. Participants must register ahead of time, see Upcoming Events for current workshop information.
- Informal OD consultation – individualized consultation services provided by Anna Martin and Qamar Ibrahim either over the phone or by appointment at the LEAD Group office. LEAD Group staff are available to provides ideas and resources based upon individual organizational needs.

Formal OD consultation – individualized consultation services provided by Bob Frawley, Anna Martin, Qamar Ibrahim and other contracted consultants typically at the agency site. LEAD Group has the capacity to provide up to 20-25 hours of low or no‑cost consultation to 10-20 agencies annually (depending on charitable support). Typically, those agencies that receive formal OD consultation are active participants in LEAD Group's Organizational Workshops. Organizations interested in receiving Formal OD Consultation Services should contact either Anna Martin or Qamar Ibrahim to discuss issues/needs. While Formal OD Services are customized for each organization, they generally involve the following components:
- A rapid assessment of the organization in 6 different OD areas including:
- Board governance
- Financial management
- Service delivery
- Human resources
- Grant management
- Strategic alignment
- Following the assessment, the OD Consultant works with the organizational leader(s) to address organization development concerns (within the context of 20-25 hours of services)
- The OD Consultant typically meets one‑on‑one with organizational leaders and at the conclusion of OD consulting services a final meeting is held with leaders and board members.
